The Knight In Distress

The knight and the princess were holding hands in the grove,
Around each other their hands tightly wove.

They smiled at each other and they looked into each others eyes,
Everything seemed like bliss beneath the perfect blue skies.

But what happened next would challenge their love,
A mighty dragon swooped down from above.

He seized the knight with his sharp talons and flew away,
The princess was so heartbroken that words she could not say.

However in an instant, and in her heart, there was an unexpected surprise,
For in that moment a warrior princess did arise.

She gathered up her fine lace dress and hopped on her faithful steed,
She was determined to repay the dragon for his treacherous deed.

Into the valley she quickly rode,
It was no secret where to find the evil dragon’s abode.

She rode and rode until she arrived at the entrance of the dragon’s cave,
And entered it without tarrying because her love made her heart feel so brave.

The warrior princess stalked the evil dragon to his fiery lair,
The dragon saw her coming and gave her a terrifying stare.

What happened next was oh so foul,
The dragon laughed at her and let out a growl.

But to the dragon’s shock, the roar could not overthrow her grace,
She quickly grabbed her sword and shook it at his face.

The dragon arose from his nest of gold,
For a sword was not enough to make him fold.

He charged towards the princess with a mighty scream,
And through his nostrils appeared fire and steam.

The princess stood her ground as firm as she could stand,
And swung her sharpened sword hoping it would land.

She grazed the skin of his scaly throat,
But it wasn’t fatal, so the dragon did gloat.

He told the princess that she was too meek,
And that he could not be defeated by someone so weak.

At that moment something wonderful appeared in her eyes,
A fire greater than that of the dragon s did arise.

Towards the belly of the dragon she did dart,
And took her sword piecing him through the heart.

The dragon shrieked as he crash to the ground,
He twitch and gasped, but could barely let out a sound.

Out of his belly his life bled,
And moments later he was dead.

The princess had won but she did not cheer,
For the knight, her precious love, she did fear.

But luckily this poem has a happy end,
The princess searched the cave throughout every bend.

Her determination brought reward as she found the knight in a cell,
She smashed down the door with her sword, rescuing him from his jail.

The knight was so weak, but was ever thankful to the princess for saving his life,
He knelt to his princess, kissed her hand, then asked her to be his wife.

Now much more could be said about what these two did share,
But you can be assured that doubting the princess was something he would never dare.

She had proven herself worthy in the darkest hour,
And shown that a determined woman can have power.

So remember to never to doubt your sister or girlfriend,
The dragon doubted a woman, and it was his end.
